Dr. Jennifer Ryan

Dr. Jennifer Ryan is a highly qualified Colorectal Surgeon and General Surgeon who specialises in the management of complex gastroenterological and colorectal conditions. With a patient-centred approach, Dr. Ryan is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals experiencing a wide range of digestive and bowel disorders. Her clinical focus encompasses both surgical and non-surgical interventions, ensuring that each patient receives a comprehensive and tailored treatment plan.

Dr. Ryan completed her medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2006. She went on to obtain her Fellowship in General Surgery in 2012. Following this, she undertook extensive sub-speciality training in colorectal surgery, completing a prestigious fellowship programme that included clinical training both in Melbourne and at a world-renowned clinic in Ohio, USA. She also holds a Masters of Surgery from the University of Melbourne, focusing on the pre-operative management of rectal cancer. Dr. Ryan is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

In her clinical practice, Dr. Ryan has a particular interest in the surgical management of colorectal cancers and inflammatory bowel disease. She is highly skilled in performing colonoscopies and utilising minimally invasive surgical techniques to promote faster recovery times and optimal patient outcomes. Her expertise also extends to the treatment of faecal incontinence, where she offers advanced therapies such as sacral nerve modulation, as well as transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS) for specialised cases.
