Dr Virginia Birrell

Dr Virginia Birrell is a highly respected Consultant Paediatrician who has dedicated her career to providing comprehensive and compassionate care for infants, children, and young people. Specialising in general paediatrics, she has a particular clinical focus on paediatric diabetes and endocrinology. Throughout her distinguished career, Dr Birrell has been committed to supporting young patients and their families, ensuring they receive the highest standard of medical care tailored to their unique developmental needs.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Birrell has held significant leadership roles, including serving as the Clinical Director of a major paediatric department. In this capacity, she was instrumental in shaping local healthcare services and driving clinical excellence. She has a proven track record of service development, having successfully established specialised clinical pathways for paediatric gynaecology and eating disorders. Her work in the medical management of acute severe anorexia nervosa in young people has contributed valuable insights to the wider medical community.
