Dr. Tarek Katbeh

Dr Tarek Katbeh is a highly skilled Consultant General Surgeon who delivers comprehensive patient-focused surgical care in Glasgow. With advanced expertise as an Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon and Bariatric Surgeon, he provides tailored diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for a wide spectrum of general surgical conditions. Dr Katbeh is dedicated to achieving high standards of safety and clinical excellence, ensuring that patients receive compassionate and well-coordinated care throughout their treatment journey.

In his clinical practice, Dr Katbeh specialises in keyhole and advanced minimally invasive procedures designed to accelerate recovery and reduce post-operative discomfort. His surgical practice encompasses weight-loss interventions such as sleeve gastrectomy, alongside laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallbladder disease and single-stage laparoscopic bile duct exploration. Furthermore, he routinely performs complex hernia repairs, including inguinal, femoral, incisional, and hiatus hernia repairs, as well as laparoscopic antireflux surgery, benign skin lesion excisions, and upper gastrointestinal endoscopies. Dr Katbeh completed his primary medical education at Baghdad University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2003. Following postgraduate surgical training across Scotland and England, he attained a Master of Science (MSc) degree and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). Alongside his surgical commitments, he holds an academic appointment as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer, actively contributing to surgical education, academic research, and the training of future medical professionals.
