About Ms Tania Cubison

Miss Cubison is currently employed as Consultant in Burns and Plastic Surgery at the Queen Victoria Hospital East Grinstead, having taken up this appointment in February 2008. Her Special Interests are in Burns and Lower Limb reconstruction and the surgical management of amputees. She also has a particular interest in scarring disfigurement relating to trauma and burn injury, and manages acute burn injury patients. She has a special interest in burn injury in children and is actively involved in Child Protection Issues. In the private sector Miss Cubison offers a wide range of procedures including breast reduction and augmentation, abdominoplasty, post weight loss surgery, and labial reduction (labioplasty), as well as minor surgery for skin lesions, scar revisions, ear lobe repair and surgical tattoo removal.

Miss Cubison was trained in the UK Higher Surgical Training Programme in 3 main plastic surgery units: The Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle Upon Tyne and St Andrews Burn Centre, Broomfield Hospital Chelmsford.

She completed 5 years of general plastic surgery training including Burns, Skin Cancer, Hand Surgery, Breast Surgery and Soft Tissue reconstruction.

In 2006 she was awarded the McGregor Gold Medal for achieving top marks in the Plastic Surgery Fellowship Exam of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

In 2007 she completed a six-month fellowship in Burn Care looking after acute burn injury and longer term reconstruction patients.

She has developed significant skills in the management of lower limb trauma and limb salvage. She is able to use a wide variety of techniques to resurface the lower limb to achieve soft tissue cover and save badly damaged limbs. However, she has also developed a significant experience in the management of amputation and the revisional surgery to lower limb stumps to improve the fitting of prosthetics and assist in mobilisation after major trauma.

In 2022 she was appointed Medical Director for the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
