About Mr Syed S Ahmed
Mr. Ahmed is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Hip Surgery. He performs a high volume (>600) of hip replacements annually, as evidenced by UK National Joint Registry (NJR). He is among the highest volume hip surgeons in the country.

He has a special interest in minimally invasive hip replacements, enhanced recovery and is keen on early return to all normal activities following joint replacement surgery. His NHS practice consists mainly of primary and revision hip replacements and is based at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
He completed his Higher Surgical Training in Trauma & Orthopaedics in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. He then went on to gain international experience in Toronto to further sub specialise in lower limb arthroplasty. Following this, he worked at University College London Hospital gaining significant experience in complex hip and knee replacements, revision hip surgery and robotic hip and knee arthroplasty.

Excellent from start to finish. Up and walking unaided within three weeks. Explained everything clearly and worked his magic.
I can't praise Mr Ahmed highly enough - from being in such pain prior to the op - I have got my life back. The care at Horder is exceptional both with knee replacement 10 years ago plus hip 7 weeks ago.
Saw mr syed today, he showed me my x rays of before and now of my hip replacement, asked to see my scar, dr was happy with scar and how I am walking, asked if I had any questions, and I thanked him for fixing me , i was pleased I paid for my treatment to get seen sooner rather than waiting for the NHS as I was in a lot of pain, but I am fine now, thanks to dr syed.
Mr Ahmed was a little brief in his meeting with me before the surgery and did not seem particularly interested in my well being, as I did not see him after the procedure before I was discharged.
I am very impressed with the minimal level of intervention required to fit my new hip. Having previously had a full knee replacement, I have experienced much quicker healing of the scar and much greater mobility from shortly after the operation.
Superb Surgeon, absolutely no problems before, during or after the operation. I was off the crutches after 13 days, and walking 10,000 steps a day after five weeks!
