Dr Sunil Bhopal

Dr Sunil Bhopal is a highly regarded Consultant Paediatrician specialising in community child health and early childhood development. With a strong commitment to improving the health, wellbeing, and life chances of young children, he focuses on the critical early years of life, particularly the first thousand days. His clinical practice is deeply integrated with his passion for preventative care, early intervention, and understanding the impact of childhood adversity on long-term development.

Dr Bhopal completed his medical degree in Leeds in 2010, having previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in International Health in 2008. He went on to achieve his Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2014. Committed to academic excellence, he also holds a Master of Clinical Research from 2015 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology from 2019. Dr Bhopal is an active member of the medical community and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, where he previously chaired the International Child Health Group.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Bhopal is a dedicated Researcher and Epidemiologist who has contributed significantly to global and local child health policies. His work explores the biological and environmental mechanisms that underpin optimal early childhood development, translating complex scientific evidence into practical, system-embedded interventions.
