Dr Sumanta Gupta

Dr Sumanta Gupta is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist at Priory Wellbeing Centre Manchester and Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal with over 30 years of experience. He completed his medical degree at Calcutta University, India in 1989 before moving to the UK and receiving his membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Gupta completed his psychiatry training in the Cambridge Deanery and also holds a Master's degree in Psychiatry from Keele University.

Dr Gupta specialises in General Adult Psychiatry and works with adults between the ages of 18-65 years old. He uses a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and has practiced in both the NHS and private sector.

He has specialist expertise in the assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of presentations, including:

• Adjustment disorder
• Depression
• Suicidal thoughts
• Self-harm
• Phobias
• OCD
• PTSD
• Psychosis
• Emotionally unstable personality disorder
• Stress

Dr Gupta is well trained in several therapeutic techniques, including dialectical behaviour therapy. He is also a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of adult ADHD and ADD.

Outside of his clinical work, Dr Gupta has several years of experience supervising foundation doctors and core trainees in his field of expertise.
