Dr Haitham Nadeem is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Altrincham. He has extensive experience working in both NHS and private sector roles relating to adult mental health, urgent mental health care, addiction and recovery services, ADHD, and as an independent expert in psychiatry in medico-legal proceedings.
Dr Nadeem trained in psychiatry initially in Yorkshire then completed his higher psychiatric training in Oxford. He became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2003. He has worked as an NHS consultant psychiatrist since 2006.
During his higher training in psychiatry, Dr Nadeem had the opportunity to work full time in research at the Oxford University Neurosciences Unit where he carried out research on mood disorders and antidepressants.
Dr Nadeem held leadership positions in the NHS including as lead consultant for addiction recovery services across a large footprint in the North West and more recently as lead consultant for an urgent care and community mental health service in Greater Manchester.
He was responsible for delivering and organising the addiction module of the MRCPsych course at Manchester University. He is a clinical and educational supervisor and provides training in psychiatry to all grades of junior doctors and other health professionals.
He is an approved health assessor and medical supervisor for the GMC with responsibilities for the assessment of doctors with potentially impairing mental health conditions.
Since 2013 Dr Nadeem has been working as consultant psychiatrist for a Home Based Treatment Team in Greater Manchester providing acute psychiatric care for people presenting in crisis due to their mental health.
Dr Nadeem has been a visiting consultant at the Priory Hospital Altrincham since 2010.
Dr Nadeem has extensive experience treating mood disorders,
anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), stress, post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD), trauma-related conditions, psychosis and personality disorders.
He also has specialist expertise in the assessment and management of adult
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance misuse, alcohol and
drug dependency, and dual diagnosis, supporting individuals experiencing co-existing
problems such as mental health conditions and substance use disorders through
personalised treatment and recovery plans.
