I had my initial screening with Dr Shama and she was calm, professional, and non-judgmental, which made it easier to open up. I have had an NHS referral and screening and again another screening with a different provider which were both emotionally unsettling. Dr Shama was extremely thoughtful about this and has contacted the NHS provider for my screening notes so I did not have to go through the emotional distress again. Dr Shama asked thoughtful, thorough questions and took the time to listen, without making me feel ashamed or embarrassed about anything. She provided an insight on diagnosis and next steps to help recover. I felt heard, respected, and supported during and after my initial appointment, and I would recommend Dr Shama to others who are struggling with an eating disorder.
