We visited St John’s and St Elizabeth Hospital in January 2026 in an extremely difficult situation. My father was rapidly deteriorating (resulting in the loss of use of his legs), and we had been unable to get a diagnosis. At that point, we were so concerned that we even went straight to A&E. We finally managed to be connected with Dr Viegas through our private medical insurance, and he was a miracle worker from the first appointment. He very quickly organised a range of tests, and the facilities at St John’s and St Elizabeth Hospital were excellent. Dr Stuart Viegas has been an absolute lifeline to our family. His excellent, detailed knowledge meant he could explain complex issues clearly and help us make informed decisions. He has gone above and beyond to support us with my father’s care, which has been complex and involved a mixture of both private and NHS support. Throughout, his bedside manner has been exceptional: calm, patient and reassuring, and he always took the time to listen to our concerns. I would recommend Dr Viegas to anyone with a neurological condition. He has a straightforward and clear approach, and he is willing to discuss the more difficult questions that often arise in critical care with sensitivity and honesty.

His professionalism is matched by his compassion, which makes an enormous difference when you are feeling worried or vulnerable. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Dr Viegas was the ultimate professional, thorough, efficient whilst providing a careful and easy to understand explanation of the facts.
I was recommended consult Dr Viegas for a long-term ailment which he confirmed but further tests showed a new issue. I now feel further consultations will only confirm what I already now know.
Exceptional communicator; explains everything very clearly and answers all your questions. Puts your mind at ease about things you're worried about. Extremely thorough in investigations - leaves no stone unturned. Adapts the style of information to the patient in front of him. Very knowledgable about other areas of medicine so can describe how different conditions affect each other. I want to mention Faduma, Dr Viegas' amazing secretary, who is proactive, intelligent and kind.
