The Wellington Hospital is shocking, and I would not subject anyone to it. From the moment I walked in to the moment I was forced out the door, the level of service was unacceptable. An hour wait in the waiting room, because they didn’t have a bed. Led to a bay and rushed through changing, explanations and obs by the nursing team because they were running late and wanted to get on with it. Dr Simon Philpott was excellent, but the service of the wellington was unacceptable. Having previously been advised that I would be in recovery for a few hours post sedation, I was woken up after 20 minutes by a meal I did not want being placed on my table on top of me. Within 30 minutes I was told to get dressed, still completely out of it, dizzy and unsteady. Within 40 minutes I had been asked twice what time my lift was arriving and was essentially told it was home time. I left feeling unwell, weak, nauseas and unable to see properly, but no one cared, they just wanted to get home themselves as I was the last patient. I strongly advise anyone subjecting themselves to the Wellington Endoscopic Unit, particularly when you’re paying thousands of pounds for the honour! Avoid.

Dr Phillpotts gave a very clear explanation and overview of the procedure. He was friendly and reassuring and happy to answer any questions. He came to see me after the procedure to debrief me and answer any further questions. I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who may need his expertise.

Dr. Philpotts was very reassuring. He explained my procedure and sedatives associated. I felt nothing during or after my endoscopic biopsy.
