Dr. Sharon Brown

Dr. Sharon Brown is an experienced psychiatrist with a strong background in educational psychology and a passion for improving the educational outcomes and well-being of children and young people. Dr. Brown earned her MB ChB degree from the University of Dundee in 2001 before undertaking her foundation training and then her specialist psychiatry training, becoming a consultant in 2009.

Currently working with Education Scotland, Dr. Brown has previously served as a Senior Educational Psychologist, developing broad expertise in addressing the educational factors that influence children's success across Scotland. Her work includes implementing innovative strategies to enhance outcomes for students, supporting both practitioners and educational systems.

While her focus has primarily been within Scotland, Dr. Brown has developed a growing interest in international educational systems and their impact on children and young people. She has a particular passion for contributing to the well-being and educational achievements of children in Malawi, a country with a long-standing partnership with Scotland. Through her current role at Education Scotland, Dr. Brown has gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities within Malawi’s educational framework and is eager to actively support the system, its practitioners, and the children it serves.
