Mr Sen Sankar

Mr Sankar is a highly accomplished Consultant Cardiologist who provides comprehensive care across adult cardiology and cardiac imaging. Dedicated to delivering patient-centred and reassuring medical care, he focuses on clear communication, thorough investigations, and evidence-based diagnostic techniques to evaluate heart health. His clinical practice covers a broad spectrum of cardiovascular conditions, assisting patients through detailed assessments and individualised management plans tailored to their specific needs.

His primary area of expertise lies in advanced cardiac imaging, using state-of-the-art diagnostic tools such as cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and complex echocardiography to gain a precise understanding of heart structure and function. Mr Sankar manages conditions including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, hypertension, cardiomyopathy, and cardiac arrhythmias. He also possesses specialist interests in adult congenital heart disease, sports cardiology, athlete's heart assessment, and the evaluation of potential cardiac sources of embolism, such as patent foramen ovale (PFO).

Mr Sankar earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1997. He completed specialist higher training in Cardiology and General Medicine in Wales, securing his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in both specialities in 2011. To further enhance his diagnostic skills, he completed a post-CCT fellowship in adult congenital heart disease and cardiac MRI. Admitted to Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003, he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP) in 2013. His contributions to cardiovascular medicine are recognised globally through fellowships with prestigious medical organisations, including Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and Fellow of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (FEACVI). He is also an active member of the British Cardiovascular Imaging Society, the British Society of Echocardiography, and the Society of Cardiovascular MRI.
