About Dr Malcolm Burgess

Dr Burgess is an experienced Cardiologist having qualified in Medicine in 1993 and trained in cardiology since 1996. He has been employed as a Consultant at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2007. He can provide a comprehensive assessment of patients with known or suspected heart disease using both invasive and non-invasive tests. He has comprehensive experience in echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound). Following his MD thesis he completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Queensland, Australia.

Dr. Burgess has authored over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and regularly takes part in examining/training of junior cardiologists. He recognises the importance of ensuring that patients are fully involved in all decisions about their care. Dr. Burgess offers impeccable personal attention with a patient-focused approach from initial assessment, through to investigation and treatment, with ample time allocated to listening to patients' health concerns.

Dr Burgess listened patiently to everything I told him and arranged for me to have the necessary tests. He put my mind at rest and it is no exaggeration to say I slept more soundly after my first appointment with him. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone with concerns about their heart heath.

Having attended a number of cardiology appointments with Dr Burgess, I would not hesitate to recommend him. He has always had a very helpful and practical approach with treatments and investigations. He is also very reassuring, patient and thorough and not only considers the past and present but also the future.
