Dr Sana Hamid

Dr Sana Hamid is a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in complex glaucoma care and advanced cataract surgery. Dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care, Dr Hamid works collaboratively with her patients to design individualised treatment plans that protect and preserve long-term visual health. Her patient-centred approach combines rigorous clinical standards with open communication, ensuring patients feel fully informed, valued, and reassured throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Hamid possesses extensive expertise across the full spectrum of medical, laser, and surgical interventions for glaucoma and cataracts. Her sub-specialist clinical practice encompasses complex glaucoma procedures, including trabeculectomy, aqueous shunt tube surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and minimally invasive bleb surgery (MIBS). She is also experienced in clear lens extraction for angle closure glaucoma, complex cataract surgery, and targeted laser therapies such as selective laser trabeculoplasty, peripheral iridotomy, cyclodiode laser, and YAG capsulotomy.

Dr Hamid earned her Bachelor of Science with Honours and her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from St George's University of London, qualifying in 2012. She subsequently completed comprehensive postgraduate training in ophthalmology, followed by advanced sub-specialist fellowship training in surgical glaucoma. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) as well as a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO). Additionally, she maintains active membership in professional bodies, including the UK and Eire Glaucoma Society.

Beyond her direct patient care, Dr Hamid is deeply engaged in medical education, clinical research, and surgical training. She serves as a Surgical Skills Tutor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, helping to train and mentor emerging eye surgeons.
