About Mr Darshak Patel
Mr Darshak Patel is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract and refractive surgery. He graduated from University College London with an MBBS awarded with Distinction in Clinical Science, and later completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Ophthalmology with Distinction at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences, and holds the Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery (CertLRS).
Mr Patel completed his specialist ophthalmic training in London, followed by two years of advanced fellowship training in complex cataract and corneal transplant surgery at the Western Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. He subsequently undertook a further fellowship in refractive surgery at the renowned London Vision Clinic, where he now leads the cataract and refractive lens exchange service.
He is among a small number of surgeons in the UK with formal dual fellowship training in both corneal transplantation and laser refractive surgery.
Mr Patel has a particular interest in achieving glasses independence and has performed thousands of procedures, including cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, laser vision correction (SMILE, LASIK, PRK), and implantable collamer lens (ICL) surgery.

I had a smile pro surgery with Mr Darshak Patel 3 months ago. The experience was great. Mr Darshak answered all my questions (even when I triple-asked something) and assured me that I am free to ask anything. The instructions were crystal clear; the surgery was smooth, and he also assisted outside his working hours and answered a few of my questions. I had a great experience and amazing results, and would definitely recommend him.

Having worn glasses since I was four, I’d grown very comfortable with them and they were just part of who I was. I’d thought about laser occasionally but I had a high prescription and also found the association of the words, ‘laser’, ‘eye’ and ‘surgery’ a little off putting. It was only when I saw a friend who had recently had it done and was waxing lyrical about it did I decide to book a free consultation and I found the London Vision Clinic online. From that first consultation I was in. They completely put my mind at ease and the whole treatment process was very calm, professional and clinical. I hold Mr Patel and his team in the highest regard. The actual surgery was almost comically short and painless after decades of eye tests and wearing glasses. The recovery went well and the results instantaneous. Three months on and I have better vision than I could ever have imagined.
