About Dr Salman Haider

Dr Salman Haider

Consultant Neurologist — Acute Neurology, Stroke Medicine & General Neurology
National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery (UCLH & NHNN- NHS)
Princess Grace Hospital • The Harley Street Clinic • Queen Square Private Consulting Rooms

What I Do

New or unexplained neurological symptoms are worrying — I help patients get answers quickly.
I specialise in the rapid assessment of new neurological symptoms, offering same‑ or next‑day diagnostics and urgent specialist care.

I have undertaken more than 6,000 urgent neurological assessments, including thousands of hyperacute video consultations for suspected stroke. I work at the National Hospital of Neurology, founding and lead their and the UK’s first Neurology Same Day Emergency Care (NeuroSDEC), enabling patients to be assessed, investigated and treated without hospital admission.

My practice is designed to deliver prompt and flexible care (rapid access including evening & saturday appointments), diagnostic clarity & reassurance with a clear plan from the very first consultation.

My Approach

I take time to listen carefully, understand your symptoms, and explain findings in clear, straightforward language.

Every consultation combines:

  • a detailed neurological examination
  • rapid access to investigations
  • decisive, personalised treatment

My aim is that every patient leaves with a clear understanding of:

  • what may be causing their symptoms
  • what tests—if any—are required
  • what happens next

Many patients fear conditions such as stroke, brain tumour, MS or dementia. After careful assessment and timely testing, a reassuring alternative diagnosis is often found. Even if a major neurological condition is identified, further treatment is provided.

Conditions I Commonly Treat

  • Headache & migraine
  • Stroke, mini-stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • Dizziness, vertigo & balance disorders
  • Pins and needles, numbness & weakness (including suspected MS)
  • Blackouts, faints, seizures & epilepsy
  • Post‑stroke rehabilitation
  • Cluster headache; trigeminal neuralgia
  • Memory & cognitive concerns (including dementia)
  • Tremor & Parkinson’s disease
  • Concussion
  • Huntington’s disease
  • Unexplained neurological symptoms
  • Specialist second opinions

Rapid Access Diagnostics & Treatment

Diagnostics: same‑ or next‑day neurological assessment; fast‑track MRI and specialist tests

Treatments: migraine management; greater occipital nerve blocks; IV magnesium & infusion therapies

Access: video or face‑to‑face consultations; inpatient & outpatient care at Princess Grace or Queen Square.

Experience & Innovation

  • NHS work at National Hospital of Neurology Queen Square, one of the world's leading neurological hospitals.
  • Founder & Clinical Lead of NeuroSDEC, the UK’s first rapid‑access neurology emergency care service
  • Developed the London Ambulance Service video stroke triage pathway, now used across London & East of England
  • PhD in Huntington’s disease and subspecialist training in dementia
  • Senior Lecturer at UCL, combining clinical practice with teaching, research, philanthropic, nationally and internationally impactful activity.

What This Means for You

Fast, expert neurological assessment from a clinician highly experienced in both urgent and complex cases — with clear communication, diagnostic certainty and a personalised treatment plan.

I was seen the same day after experiencing sudden onset numbness, migraine and neck pain. The speed of access was unprecedented—everything happened so quickly including a same day scan with Dr Haider taking me through the results and options in a very easy to understand yet comprehensive way. The whole process was efficient, professional and incredibly well organised. At what was a very worrying time, the rapid assessment and clear communication provided so much reassurance to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Dr Haider.

Friendly, informative, knowledgeable and all round fantastic doctor. I'm a long time migraine sufferer and had recently had a very bad episode which had lasted longer than usual. I was afraid it was something more sinister. But following an MRI Dr. Haider instantly put me at ease and talked through a strategy to deal with my current and future episodes. Would easily recommend him.
