Dr Ryan Watkins

Dr Ryan Watkins is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician and Consultant Neonatologist who provides compassionate, comprehensive medical care for newborn infants, children, and young people. Operating within specialist care settings, he manages a wide range of general paediatric conditions alongside critical newborn health challenges. Dr Watkins is committed to delivering holistic, family-centred care that prioritises clear communication, reassuring support, and tailored treatment plans for every child and family under his care.

His clinical interests concentrate on high-dependency newborn care, premature baby care, and collaborative foetal medicine. Dr Watkins has extensive expertise in advanced neonatal monitoring and diagnostic evaluation, including neonatal echocardiography and the early management of congenital heart conditions in newborns. Alongside his bedside clinical duties, he maintains a strong focus on strategic healthcare delivery, service development, and establishing regional clinical networks to improve health outcomes for infants and children.

Dr Watkins completed his primary medical qualification, obtaining a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) alongside a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS). He subsequently completed specialist postgraduate training in child health, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). To further advance healthcare quality and system innovation, Dr Watkins also completed a prestigious GenerationQ Fellowship in healthcare leadership and quality improvement.
