Dr Roxane Hillier

Dr Roxane Hillier is a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist and Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon who provides dedicated, patient-centred care for a wide range of eye conditions. Specialising in surgical and medical retina as well as complex cataract procedures, she is committed to delivering advanced, evidence-based treatments that preserve and restore vision. Dr Hillier adopts a reassuring and methodical approach to patient care, ensuring each individual thoroughly understands their diagnosis and personalised treatment plan.

Dr Hillier completed her undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) alongside a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, later earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Education. She undertook specialist postgraduate training in Ophthalmology in the North West of England before completing three years of advanced sub-speciality fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery in Manchester and Toronto, Canada. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and holds active leadership and committee roles within the British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons.

In her clinical practice, Dr Hillier focuses on diagnosing and treating complex conditions affecting the retina and vitreous. Her surgical expertise encompasses minimally invasive techniques such as pneumatic retinopexy, pars plana vitrectomy, and scleral buckling for retinal detachment, as well as delicate surgical procedures for macular holes and complex cataracts. She also manages medical retinal disorders, including diabetic macular oedema and age-related macular degeneration. Alongside her clinical duties, Dr Hillier is actively involved in clinical research and trial leadership aimed at optimising surgical techniques and improving long-term visual outcomes for patients.
