From the first consultant to the surgery and beyond the Newmedica staff were welcoming and professional. Nobody likes the idea of people doing anything to their eyes but on the day of surgery every stage of the surgery was explained, what would happen and what I would expect to feel. Mr Shafiq, the consultant doing the surgery, talked to me throughout the procedure ensuring I was comfortable but also what position I needed to look to help during the surgery. I need not have worried, there was no pain and only a little pressure. Should I need the other eye doing in the future I would have no hesitation in allowing Newmedica to do it.

Returned for a final check up after my operation to see if everything was fine and was the operation a success. If it hadn’t been for Lucy Clarke and her team my life wouldn’t have changed for the better. I had suffered with depression, anxiety and self consciousness for 20 years after a work accident damaged my eye and surrounding nerves and muscles. Lucy told me she could correct the muscle damage after I was misdiagnosed by other doctors. She was right and now my eyelid etc has improved greatly and now my self esteem and confidence has returned. Thank you to Lucy her team and Newmedica for all your help.

I had cataract surgery on the 1/7/3026, at Newmedica in Newcastle upon Tyne. The staff were very supportive and friendly. They explained everything step by step and asked each time, whether I had any concerns or questions. Mr Shafiq, the surgeon, really put me at ease and explained everything to me step by step, which was very important for me, because I have autism and I was feeling very anxious. Everyone there made my experience a positive one and I will ask to referred there for my next cataract surgery. I have no hesitation in recommending Newmedica, to anyone else who needs cataract surgery, or any eye surgery or other treatment.

A very sanitised environment. Friendly staff. Excellent care from the gentleman who took me from reception and through the various procedures until arrival at theatre. Made to feel at ease and comfortable in theatre. The surgery was painless!
