Dr Robert Spaull

Dr Robert Spaull is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist and Clinician Scientist who specialises in diagnosing and managing complex neurological conditions in young patients. He provides reassuring, family-centred care for infants, children, and adolescents, with dedicated expertise in complex movement disorders, tone conditions, and childhood epilepsy. Combining clinical excellence with research-driven precision medicine, Dr Spaull aims to improve neurological outcomes and quality of life for every child under his care.

Dr Spaull completed his foundational academic training in neuroscience at the University of Oxford, qualifying in 2007, before obtaining his medical degree from Imperial College London in 2010. He completed his specialist training in paediatric neurology and earned a PhD in paediatric neurology from University College London in 2025. He achieved Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2015 and holds a Certificate of Completion of Training in Paediatric Neurology. He is an active member of the British Paediatric Neurology Association and serves as an Honorary Senior Research Associate.

In his clinical practice, Dr Spaull focuses on evaluating and managing complex movement and tone disorders, including cerebral palsy, hypertonia, and dystonia, alongside complex epilepsy. He possesses specialist clinical expertise in assessing children for advanced therapeutics, including deep brain stimulation, intrathecal baclofen pumps, botulinum toxin therapy, and targeted medical interventions. His clinical work also encompasses rare neurogenetic and neurometabolic conditions, as well as neonatal and acquired brain injury.

As a Clinician Scientist, Dr Spaull actively contributes to translational research and clinical trials aimed at developing precision therapies for rare paediatric neurogenetic disorders. He collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, holistic care tailored to the individual developmental and medical needs of each child.
