Professor Richard Leach

Professor Richard Leach is an accomplished Consultant Physician specialising in General (Internal) Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. Known for his thorough and reassuring approach, he provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments and individualised care plans for patients presenting with complex, multi-system health concerns. As a respected Consultant Physician, Professor Leach brings exceptional expertise to diagnosing undifferentiated illnesses, managing acute medical conditions, and coordinating holistic clinical management across multiple specialties.

In his clinical practice, Professor Leach addresses a broad spectrum of general internal medical conditions and respiratory disorders. His areas of clinical interest include the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, persistent coughs, chest infections, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, and breathlessness. Additionally, he specialises in post-viral fatigue syndrome, respiratory failure, obesity hypoventilation, nutrition, and weight-related issues. Professor Leach completed his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Manchester in 1982 and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 1992. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 1997 and holds specialist registration on the European Specialist Registers for General (Internal) Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, and Intensive Care Medicine.
