Mr Richard Kapur

Mr Richard Kapur is a dedicated Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery and complex lower limb trauma. He provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for a broad spectrum of joint and traumatic conditions, ranging from acute sports injuries in active individuals to degenerative joint diseases requiring preservation or replacement. Committed to a patient-centred approach, Mr Kapur ensures every individual receives a thorough, evidence-based assessment and a clear, tailored treatment plan designed to restore mobility and function.

His surgical practice covers both routine and complex procedures of the knee and lower extremity. Mr Kapur offers keyhole arthroscopic surgery, meniscal and cartilage repairs, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, and multi-ligament stabilisation. He also performs corrective osteotomies, patellofemoral instability procedures, partial and total knee replacements, revision knee arthroplasty, primary hip replacement, and complex lower limb fracture management. By integrating advanced surgical techniques with individualised rehabilitation strategies, he supports patients in returning safely to their desired daily activities and sports.

Mr Kapur qualified in medicine in 2008 and completed his higher specialist training as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon within the Severn Deanery. To further refine his expertise, he completed advanced fellowship training focusing on soft tissue knee reconstruction in Sheffield as well as knee and complex trauma surgery at a major trauma centre in North Bristol. In addition to his medical degree (MB ChB) and Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr & Orth), he earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University of Cardiff in 2016. He maintains professional memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons and national orthopaedic organisations, while actively contributing to clinical research and surgical education.
