Dr Riad Alame

Dr Riad Alame is a highly accomplished Consultant Gastroenterologist and Advanced Endoscopist. He serves as the Clinical Service Lead for Endoscopy, demonstrating leadership and clinical excellence in his field. Dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centred care, Dr Alame plays a pivotal role in multidisciplinary teams, including chairing the dysplasia multidisciplinary team (MDT) and contributing as a core member of both the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and upper gastrointestinal cancer MDTs.

With a focus on upper gastrointestinal medicine, Dr Alame possesses extensive expertise in advanced therapeutic procedures. His clinical interests encompass endoscopic stenting, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and Barrett's therapies. Additionally, he is a recognised National Expert and Advisor for the management of eosinophilic oesophagitis, running a specialist regional joint clinic alongside dietetics to deliver comprehensive care for patients with this complex condition. His practice also covers upper gastrointestinal cancer and gastrointestinal dysmotility.

Dr Alame completed his comprehensive postgraduate medical training in the West Midlands. Following this, he undertook a prestigious post-Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) fellowship, specialising in advanced therapeutic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. This advanced training equipped him with the highly specialised skills required to perform complex endoscopic interventions and diagnostic procedures.
