Professor Videsh Raut

Professor Videsh Raut is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon & Hon Professor at Edge Hill University.

He is a Specialist Knee Surgeon & also performs Conservative Management of Hip Problems.

He was Awarded UK's Prestigious"National Silver Award"for Clinical Excellence - 2018

His personal results for Total Knee Replacement surgery were published in Acta Orthopaedica Belgica in 2007 which showed a 99.4% survivorship of the artificial joint at 9 years. His 20 year results showed a 93.4% Survivorship.

He has published his personal results of Total Hip Replacement surgery in the British Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery in 2005 which showed a 100% survivorship of the artificial joint at 9 years for aseptic loosening.

He has also recently published the results of his personal technique of Bunion Surgery in the American Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery showing 96% good results.

He completed his basic Orthopaedic Training in Bombay, India at the King Edward Memorial Hospital (University of Bombay) and was a Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Hospital before coming to the UK, where he trained as a Registrar in Orthopaedics at Oswestry on a 3 year rotation. His Senior Registrar Rotation was in Birmingham, working at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and the Coventry District General Hospital. During his training period he acquired a Masters Degree in Orthopaedic Surgery (M.Ch.Orth.) from the University of Liverpool and from the University of Bombay (M.S.Orth.). He secured the Speciality Fellowship in Orthopaedics (F.R.C.S.Ed. Orth.) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Professor Raut was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in appreciation of his Clinical Research work and his Publications in the field of Hip and Knee Arthroplasty. He has more than 30 International publications to his credit and has been invited to lecture on Joint Replacement Surgery at various international and national conferences. He was nominated by the British Hip Society to act as a Specialist Advisor to NICE's (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) Interventional Procedures Programme.
