Professor John Pasi Consultant Haematologist specialising in haemostasis and thrombosis, with a particular clinical interest in thrombosis due to an inherited condition or resulting from age-related and chronic disease-related changes during later life. He also treats patients with a variety of bleeding problems including genetic conditions such as von Willebrand disease and haemophilia.
Professor Pasi graduated in medicine from the University of Birmingham in 1983 completing specialist training in haematology at Birmingham Children's Hospital. He was awarded a PhD for his research and in 1993 was appointed as Consultant Haematologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal Free Hospital and School of Medicine, where he remained until 1999. He was then appointed Professor of Haematology at the University of Leicester, as well as Head of Haematology Services at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Outside his clinical work, he is keen to promote good practice in haematology, helping to develop various national guidelines concerned with how haemostatic and thrombotic disorders should be optimally treated.
