Professor Paul Fields

I was treated by Prof Fields for Lymphoma (DLBCL) recently. It was quite an aggressive tumour which required immediate treatment. I met Prof Fields on the Tuesday for consent on the Tuesday prior to starting treatment on the Thursday. Given how quickly I went from diagnosis to treatment, I didn't have any time to process what was happening and was fearing the worst. From the start, I felt like I was in very good hands, Prof Fields took the time to get to know me as a person (not just as a patient) and my husband. He patiently answered our questions, and consistently built my confidence and determination to get through the challenging treatment regimen. He respected my need for more information, pointing out publications in journals that I could refer to and explained pieces that I could not understand. He and his very excellent team (Milan, Lester and Gaynor are superstars!) ensured that I could fully focus on my recovery. Quick note on the team: 1. Gaynor was my first point of contact prior to meeting the team and she has been amazing in taking care of all appointments/insurance claims etc. Her quiet competence left an impression on me from the start and she has managed tests/scans/bloods/appointments (and rebookings of these) without a fuss 2. Milan and Lester are both amazing CNSs. Their care and attention to detail meant that even small complaints did not go unaddressed - when the going got hard for me, their reassuring voice on the other side of the phone or prompt responses to emails really kept me going. My whole experience being cared for by Prof Fields and his team was seamless. All appointments were made promptly and efficiently, and all my emails were responded to very quickly. I felt the care I received from Prof Fields was impeccable, my issue (longterm neutropenia) was investigated thoroughly and all test results and further investigations were arranged, assessed and reported without delay. I would have no hesitation in returning to Prof Fields in the future should the need arise.
