I had an excellent experience with my respiratory doctor, Profs. James Hull and cannot recommend him highly enough. From the very first appointment, he was attentive and professional. He took the time to listen carefully to my concerns, asked thoughtful questions, and explained everything in a way that was clear and easy to understand. The treatment plan he provided was effective, and I've seen a noticeable improvement in my symptoms. Follow-up care has also been excellent, with consistent support and attention to my progress. Overall, I'm extremely grateful for the high level of care I received. It's rare to find a doctor who combines expertise with such genuine empathy. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a respiratory specialist.
I was referred to Professor Hull after a series of tests and treatments for a chronic cough which I have had for over 15 years. No consultant or test had found a reason for it and, despite trying a number of asthma, cough and breathing treatments, nothing worked. Indeed, my cough was increasingly debilitating eliciting comments from colleagues, strangers and sports partners about it. At times, I could cough very severely for up to 30 minutes. Professor Hull was the first consultant to be able to accurately summise all my symptons and, indeed, recognise what I have. He prescribed Gefapixant. He warned me it could affect my sense of taste but advised reducing the dose if that happened. The treatment completely works. I have had to reduce the dose to save my ability to taste but I seem to be managing the dose and the efficacy of the treatment so far. It has changed my life. Thank you.
Very nice mannerism. Efficient, professional and thorough
I’m very grateful to Pr James Hull. It only took one appointment for him to help me get rid of a cough I had been struggling with for over a year, after nothing else had worked!
First time here. Efficient and friendly. Reassuring expertise.
For the last four years I have been struggling with lung issues. I have seen four different consultants (Bupa and NHS). Professor Hull is the first consultant to actually chase down a diagnosis and get to the bottom of what has been causing the issues. Now we can finally treat the issue. For the first time in years I had a nebuliser free Christmas. I’m so happy! If you’ve been dismissed by other doctors or are not confident in the diagnosis you’ve been given, I highly recommend Professor Hull. I’ve been seen by other consultants who claim they can solve unexplained breathlessness and undiagnosed lung issues: Professor Hull actually can.
Professor Hull is a consummate professional. He has a very pleasant manner and is unassuming though he has the ability to get to the bottom of the problem with gentle questioning. He ordered tests to be done and when I requested some information by email via his asssistant he replied almost immediately. Quite astounding for a busy man. Going for follow up appointment in six weeks. Would recommend him highly. I have no doubt he will be able to successfully treat a condition I have had for nearly six decades.
Prof Hull is easy to talk to ,and understand. His questioning is always polite and relevant , often leading to positive suggestions which are easily implemented I had consulted him about a new drug now available privately but not on the NHS . .He ensured I understood the possible side .effects as well as the benefits of this medication. and of course the financial implications.
Prof Hull is an international expert on asthma and has been an invaluable source of advice in managing complex patients with asthma and unexplained breathlessness. His expertise in managing international athletes gives him a unique insight that is invaluable particularly in younger, active patients. I have known him for over 20 years and he is a first rate clinician whom I would gladly ask to look after myself or my family.
