About Professor James Hull
Professor James Hull, Consultant Respiratory Physician, is clinical lead for both the chronic cough and unexplained breathlessness services at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
He has a wealth of experience in treating complex respiratory issues, such as refractory chronic chronic. In this context, he has considerable experience using the novel cough treamtent, Gefapixant (Lyfnua).
He is also specialist in assessing exercise-related breathing issues, symptoms of throat closure and asthma-type problems.
Professor Hull graduated from St George's Hospital Medical School in 2000. He completed a PhD in physiology in 2010 and during his career, working with elite athletes, has developed clinical and research expertise in helping athletes, of all abilities, with problems such as cough, breathlessness, wheeze and infections.
He is recognised as an expert in his field and currently works as a respiratory expert for the International Olympic Committee, the UK Sports Institute and several professional sporting teams. He has also previously held the position of President of the ARTP.

He was previously Chair for a British Thoracic Society group, providing guidance to help assess athletic individuals with respiratory problems and was member of the IOC and ATS guideline committees for respirartory issues in athletes / exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
Dr Hull is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.

I identify Prof James Hull as a specialist to support my daughter with a breathing issue. As an endurance cyclist we were at a loss as to the reasoning behind it and how to resolve it. Prof Hull is extremely knowledgeable and quickly identified EILO and potential PoTs. We attend a lab test which confirmed the diagnosis and my daughter is now receiving specialist physio.
