Professor Harminder Dua

Professor Harminder Dua is an Ophthalmology specialist.

Professor Dua's training included work in India, England, Scotland and the United States. They attained advanced fellowship training in 'cornea and external eye disease' at the Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia (ranked in the top 10 institutions in the US). Further specialist training was acquired in Germany and the US. Professor Dua provides diagnosis and a range of medical and surgical treatments for simple and complex cases of eye diseases affecting the front half of the eye.

In 2013 Professor Dua discovered a new layer in the cornea, the pre-Descemet's layer (Dua's layer, also termed the Dua-Fine layer by the American Association of Ocular Oncologists and Pathologists, AAOOP). This discovery has had a considerable impact on corneal surgery, making lamellar keratoplasty safer, and has led to the innovation of three new surgical interventions and improved understanding of corneal pathology.
