Mr Georgios Archontakis

Mr Georgios Archontakis is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in paediatric ophthalmology, adult ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and neuro-motility disorders. He has experience across both NHS and private ophthalmology services, with clinical expertise in paediatric and adult eye care.

He began his ophthalmology training in 2008 as an Ophthalmology Resident at General Hospital of Serres before moving to the UK. His subsequent experience includes work in ophthalmology departments across Darlington, Barnsley, Doncaster, and London, developing expertise in cataract surgery, squint (strabismus) management, glaucoma, medical retina, ophthalmic trauma, general ophthalmology, and minor eyelid procedures.

Mr Archontakis worked as a Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Ophthalmology at Barts Health NHS Trust, based at Royal London Hospital, before completing a Paediatric Ophthalmology fellowship at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust from 2018 to 2020. This fellowship included paediatric ophthalmology, adult neuro-motility, and cataract surgery.

Since 2022, he has worked as a Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist across NHS hospitals in Hereford and Yorkshire. His current roles include Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Consultant Ophthalmologist with SpaMedica.

Mr Archontakis is committed to continuing professional development and regularly participates in ophthalmology meetings and conferences. He has contributed to teaching medical students and ophthalmology trainees, including education on paediatric ophthalmology emergencies and specialist procedures.
