Dr Polly Hughes

Dr Polly Hughes is a dedicated Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who provides compassionate, high-quality care to women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. She focuses on delivering patient-centred maternity and gynaecological care, ensuring every patient feels supported, informed, and safe during crucial healthcare moments. Her clinical practice encompasses both routine and complex obstetrics, placing a strong emphasis on positive birth experiences and comprehensive maternal healthcare.

Dr Hughes has established specialised expertise in childbirth injury, urogynaecology, and postnatal care. She leads a multi-disciplinary perineal service alongside specialist midwives and physiotherapists, dedicated to helping women recover effectively following birth. In addition to perineal health, her clinical focus extends to inpatient maternity care, assisting mothers through all stages of delivery and recovery with evidence-based medical practices.

Dr Hughes earned her MD degree at the University of Bristol, with her medical training incorporating advanced experience in urogynaecology. She is deeply engaged in healthcare education and simulation training, serving as a Personal Tutor, College Tutor, and Simulation Lead. Furthermore, Dr Hughes contributes actively to professional academic standards as an Undergraduate Examiner for medical students and a Postgraduate Examiner for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for the membership examination.
