Dr Peter Truran

Dr Peter Truran is an accomplished Consultant Endocrine Surgeon and General Surgeon who provides expert surgical care for a wide spectrum of endocrine and abdominal conditions. Specialising in both elective endocrine procedures and emergency surgical care, Dr Truran delivers comprehensive management for benign and malignant conditions affecting the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. His practice is grounded in delivering personalised, patient-centred care that prioritises safety, clinical precision, and optimal outcomes.

With extensive expertise in modern surgical techniques, Dr Truran performs procedures such as total thyroidectomy, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy, and advanced laparoscopic and robotic adrenalectomy. Beyond his specialist focus on endocrine disorders, he provides emergency abdominal and trauma surgery care. Dr Truran actively incorporates minimally invasive surgical approaches into his practice to help reduce recovery times and support patient comfort throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Truran completed specialist surgical training across leading endocrine surgical units in Newcastle and Sheffield. He earned a Master of Clinical Research (MClinRes) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).
