Dr Peter Mitchell is a highly skilled Consultant General Surgeon who delivers comprehensive surgical care for a wide range of gastrointestinal and abdominal conditions. Within the field of General Surgery, Dr Mitchell has developed extensive expertise in colorectal conditions and surgical oncology. His clinical practice encompasses the management of bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, pelvic floor disorders, and faecal incontinence, alongside common anorectal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, and fistulas. He routinely performs advanced procedures including laparoscopic colorectal surgery, robotic-assisted operations, transanal endoscopic microsurgery, right hemicolectomy, and anterior resection, prioritising minimally invasive techniques that promote faster recovery and reduced post-operative discomfort.

Dr Mitchell earned his primary medical qualification (MBChB) from the University of Manchester in 2001. Following his initial surgical training, he completed two years of clinical research into pelvic floor dysfunction and faecal incontinence, for which he was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2010. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 2011 and subsequently undertook specialised fellowship training in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and recurrent rectal cancer surgery. He is an active member of professional organisations including the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.
