Dr Peter-Marc Fortune

Dr Peter-Marc Fortune is an accomplished Consultant Paediatric Intensivist who specialises in Paediatrics and critical care for young patients. Working within high-dependency and intensive care environments, he provides expert clinical management for infants, children, and young people experiencing severe or life-threatening conditions. His medical practice combines high-level technical expertise with supportive, transparent communication, offering comfort and clarity to families during stressful situations.

Dr Fortune initially earned a Bachelor of Science and completed a PhD in digital signal processing before choosing to pursue a career in medicine. He studied medicine at Southampton University, qualifying in 1992, and subsequently completed specialist postgraduate training in general paediatrics, anaesthetics, and paediatric critical care. To further enhance his holistic approach to clinical care, he obtained a Master of Arts in Medical Ethics from Keele University in 2004. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH), a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM), and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators (FAcadMEd).

Throughout his career, Dr Fortune has maintained a strong commitment to medical education, clinical informatics, and patient safety, having served in pivotal roles such as Clinical Director and Chief Clinical Informatics Officer. His expertise covers paediatric resuscitation, critical care transport and retrieval medicine, human factors, and digital health initiatives aimed at early identification of deteriorating paediatric patients. Through clinical leadership and continuous research, Dr Fortune strives to improve critical care standards and promote high-quality, patient-centred care.
