Dr Peter Coyne

Dr Peter Coyne is a highly skilled Consultant General Surgeon with a dedicated focus on colorectal conditions and complex surgical oncology. Providing expert care for patients managing abdominal and intestinal health concerns, he combines technical precision with a patient-centred, reassuring approach to treatment. Dr Coyne works collaboratively within multidisciplinary surgical teams to ensure that every patient receives a clear, comprehensive, and tailored management plan.

In his clinical practice, Dr Coyne specialises in the surgical management of colorectal cancer, anal cancer, and benign bowel conditions such as diverticular disease. He is widely recognised for his expertise in cutting-edge robotic surgery and laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures, which offer minimally invasive solutions, reduced recovery times, and high surgical accuracy. His scope of practice includes advanced colorectal resections, reconstructive abdominal wall surgery, transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS), procedures for prolapse and haemorrhoids, lateral anal sphincterotomy, and emergency general surgery.

Dr Coyne graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB BS) with Honours in 2005. He went on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education in 2011 and achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Ed) in 2013. His postgraduate training includes specialist surgical rotations and advanced fellowships in pelvic oncology, laparoscopic surgery, and robotic colorectal surgery. He maintains active professional memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI), and the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), while also serving on specialist robotic surgery committees.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Coyne is actively involved in clinical research and postgraduate surgical education. He leads advanced surgical training programmes in laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques, mentoring surgical trainees and driving clinical innovation.
