Dr Patrick Byrne is a highly experienced Consultant Physician in General Internal Medicine with over 25 years’ experience caring for adult patients with complex, unclear, or multi‑system medical problems. He is known for taking time to listen carefully, asking the right questions, and providing clear, thoughtful explanations, helping patients feel reassured and confident in their care from the very first consultation.

Many patients see Dr Byrne as their first specialist point of contact, particularly when symptoms are complex, overlapping, or difficult to diagnose. He offers comprehensive internal medicine assessments and will often manage care personally, before returning patients to their own GP or referring clinician with a clear diagnosis and plan. Where further expertise is required, he is well placed to refer directly to the most appropriate medical or surgical specialty.

Dr Byrne leads the Ventilator Unit at the Royal Hospital for Neuro‑disability in Putney, specialising in the care of patients with chronic respiratory failure and complex neurological conditions. Alongside his hospital role, he provides outpatient consultations with access to advanced private diagnostics, including imaging such as MRI, allowing efficient investigation and timely clinical decision‑making. He previously practised as a GP before retiring from general practice in June 2025 to focus exclusively on his consultant physician practice. He is a Fellow of four UK Royal Colleges and has a longstanding commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centred medicine.
