Dr Ondrej Ryska

Dr Ondrej Ryska is a Consultant General Surgeon specialising in general and colorectal surgery. He provides comprehensive, patient-centred surgical care across a broad spectrum of abdominal and gastrointestinal conditions, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques to support optimal patient recovery. Dr Ryska is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, compassionate care tailored to the individual requirements of each patient.

Dr Ryska completed his primary medical training at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, qualifying in 2006. He went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in surgical research and completed advanced fellowship training in colorectal surgery. Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Ryska serves as an Honorary Lecturer, actively engaging in academic research and published clinical studies on inflammatory bowel disease, surgical innovation, and prehabilitation.

His clinical practice encompasses general surgery with a dedicated focus on conditions affecting the colon, rectum, and lower digestive tract. Dr Ryska has key clinical interests in keyhole and open surgical approaches for bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and diverticular disease. His expertise includes complex procedures such as laparoscopic right colectomy, bowel resection, and advanced endoscopic interventions including balloon dilation and endoscopic stricturotomy for stricture management.

Recognising the importance of whole-person care, Dr Ryska integrates surgical prehabilitation into patient management to help individuals prepare physically and mentally prior to elective surgical procedures.
