Dr Olubunmi Shonibare

Dr Olubunmi Shonibare is a highly skilled and experienced consultant ophthalmologist with a special interest in glaucoma, ocular hypertension and laser trabeculoplasty. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2003, from the University of London. She then completed her ophthalmology training, including advanced specialty training in glaucoma, in the Wessex region in 2017 after undergoing foundational medical and surgical specialties in London.

Based in Southampton, Dr Shonibare works at the AlphaSiGHT Clinic in Hampshire for private patients and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester for NHS patients. With over 18 years of experience in the NHS, she offers expert diagnosis and management of general and emergency ophthalmic conditions, medical and laser management of glaucoma, and post-surgical laser treatment of cataracts.

Dr Shonibare has published research in leading medical journals and is involved in mentoring junior doctors in training. She is a member of various professional organisations including The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Glaucoma Society, United Kingdom and Éire.
