Professor Oliver John Rider

Professor Oliver John Rider is a highly distinguished Consultant Cardiologist and Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine who provides comprehensive cardiac care to patients experiencing a broad range of heart conditions. Specialising in general cardiology and non-invasive cardiac imaging, he combines extensive clinical expertise with an empathetic and reassuring approach. Professor Rider completed his medical degree with honours at Pembroke College, University of Oxford, qualifying in 2002. Following the completion of his Royal College examinations, he undertook specialist clinical training in cardiology and earned a Doctorate of Philosophy (DPhil) in Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Oxford. His doctoral research utilised advanced magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy to study cardiac metabolism and function. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP UK) and maintains active involvement with leading national and international cardiovascular organisations.

With broad clinical expertise, Professor Rider diagnoses and manages conditions such as heart failure, heart valve disease, angina, cardiomyopathies, cardio-oncology, and cardiometabolic heart disease. He utilises advanced imaging techniques, including cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR), cardiac computed tomography (CT), nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography.
