Mr Muneer Otri

Mr Muneer Otri is a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with extensive expertise in cataract, anterior segment, and glaucoma treatments. He currently serves as a consultant at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire and has been working in the field of Ophthalmology since 2002.

After receiving his basic Ophthalmology training at Damascus University Hospital in Syria, Mr Otri moved to the UK in 2007. He completed his PhD degree and clinical research fellowship in cornea and anterior segment at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham in 2011, followed by another honorary fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital surgery at Birmingham Eye Centre. In 2013, he joined the Ophthalmology department at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire as a Specialty Doctor with a special interest in Glaucoma and Cataract.

Mr Otri completed the prestigious Queens Medical Centre glaucoma fellowship training in Nottingham in 2019, which included extensive experience in modern surgical and laser techniques, as well as exposure to a full range of complex pathologies. Following this, he was appointed as a Glaucoma Consultant at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire in 2020. He is now an expert in modern glaucoma treatments, including LASER treatment, Trabeculectomy surgery, Tube surgery, and minimally invasive Glaucoma surgery- MIGS including Preserflo Microshunt, OMNI and istents. Additionally, he is a skilled practitioner in routine and complex Cataract surgery, having performed thousands of Cataract procedures.

Mr Otri is a respected member of the ophthalmology community and has 27 publications in peer-reviewed journals. As an NHS consultant, he actively participates in running a tertiary centre of excellence in the treatment of complex glaucoma using aqueous-shunt surgery. He is passionate about delivering high-quality Ophthalmic care, taking into account the unique needs of each patient.
