About Dr Mumtaz Rashid

Dr Mumtaz Rashid is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology
having worked both in the NHS and the private sector overseas. She was a NHS consultant for 13 years and the Clinical Director for 8 years at the James Paget University Hospital in Norfolk where she managed staff and all the services within the Department of obstetrics and gynaecology. Dr Rashid worked abroad (Qatar) in the private sector as a senior consultant and as professor at the Weill Cornell University Medical College
Doha where she trained doctors. Dr Rashid is now affiliated with the Spire
Norwich Hospital.

Apart from general gynaecology, Dr Rashid is trained in Colposcopy, uro-gynaecology and minimum access surgery including both laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.

Dr Rashid is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and
Gynaecologists, member of BSCCP and member of the Medical Defence Union.

Qualifications

Following her primary medical qualification of MBBS Dr Rashid
obtained membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 1988 followed by Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery in Gynaecology from the University Auvergne Clermont-Ferrand France. She has RCOG Special Skills Module in Urogynaecology and BSCCP Accreditation Certificate in Colposopy.

Dr Rashid trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Jessop Hospital for Women Sheffield and the General Infirmary Leeds.
She strives to advance her clinical practice through research and has published several papers in international gynaecological journals and presented at national and international conferences. Her main areas of research include development of new surgical treatments for stress urinary incontinance and prolapse as well as improving maternal / fetal outcomes in high risk pregnanacies . She has also been a reviewer for various medical journals.

Over the years Dr Rashid has performed hundreds of abdominal / vaginal / laparoscopic hysterectomies with excellent outcome. She has also performed numerous vaginal repair, operative and diagnostic laparoscopic, midurethral sling surgical, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, abdominal myomectomy, laparotomy procedures with minimal complication rate.
