Matthew Welck is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon with an exclusive specialist practice dedicated to disorders of the foot and ankle.
He manages the full spectrum of foot and ankle conditions, from sports injuries to complex reconstruction, with particular expertise in total ankle replacement, revision surgery, complex foot and ankle reconstruction, deformity correction, foot and ankle arthritis and advanced Weight-Bearing CT-guided diagnosis.
His NHS practice at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, one of the UK's leading tertiary orthopaedic centres, is a tertiary referral practice for complex and previously-operated foot and ankle problems. Alongside this he provides private specialist care to patients from across London, the UK and overseas, including recreational, professional and elite athletes.
Matthew has a strong commitment to research, education and innovation. His research centres on Weight-Bearing CT, three-dimensional deformity assessment, patient-specific 3D-printed instrumentation and total ankle replacement outcomes. He has published widely within foot and ankle surgery, lectures nationally and internationally, sits on the BOFAS Education Committee, and contributes to postgraduate education for surgeons, trainees and allied healthcare professionals.
His philosophy is centred on evidence-based practice, shared decision-making and tailoring treatment to each patient's individual goals, whether returning to elite sport, maintaining an active lifestyle or relieving pain from advanced arthritis.
