He is a specialist in complex reconstruction of the foot and ankle, including flatfoot deformity correction, cavovarus (high arch) reconstruction, hindfoot realignment, and Charcot-Marie-Tooth related deformity. Mr Welck is one of very few UK foot and ankle surgeons with deep subspecialist expertise in weightbearing CT (WBCT). He has pioneered the clinical application of WBCT in assessing foot and ankle alignment, sesamoid position, syndesmosis injuries, and hindfoot deformity. His award-winning WBCT expertise has been recognised by the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) and British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS), and underpins the precision and outcomes of his surgical planning.
