Professor Stephen McDonnell

Professor McDonnell replaced my right hip nearly 5 years ago and I was very happy with that experience, so when my left hip needed replacing my immediate reaction was to seek his help. The operation on this second hip went equally smoothly and he was able to answer the two minor queries I had at the follow-up appointment so that my mind was put at rest. I would not hesitate to seek his help with any other orthopedic problems.

I have really appreciated Prof. McDonnell's calm, straight forward manner and the way he communicates. He clearly did an amazing job with my knee and I am eternally grateful and looking forward to getting the second one completed.

The purpose of my partial knee replacement was to allow me to ski at a high level again. 3 months post op I am once again lifting weights and boxing. With the ski season starting 3 months from now I am confident that I will be back on the slopes and I could not be happier with the outcome.

Very professional and also reassuring

Acl surgery with LET, the process was smooth and we took the time to plan the complication of cyclops lesion which was preventing me to get back to active sports. We've completed the removal of the cyclops lesion and other issues around the knee since it was being opened up. Overall experience was great from Stephen, Nuffield team, secratary, nurses, surgery team, physio etc... I am now kn the road to recovery, bearing weight and hope to get back to football and bjj.

Prof McDonnell was amazing. He clearly explained the procedure and I felt like I was on good hands for my surgery. This was a seamless process and I feel confident that the aftercare is still there if needed. I felt listened to and fixed within a relatively short time.

At 86 years I was prepared for a different experience to my first hip 20 plus years ago. However, with Professor McDonnell and his team I went through the whole experience without any problems. The only hip cup as far as I was concerned was the fact that I had the injection first which delayed the actual operation 6 months.

My latest visit was my three-month check following a total knee replacement. As usual, Professor McDonnell was very friendly and welcoming, fully au fait with who I was and my case history and listened to the few remaining concerns I had following my surgery.

Operation stopped knee locking. Still needing physio for an inflamed knee. Looked after well in Nuffield.

I could not fault the whole process. Professor McDonnell consultation pre operation explained the whole procedure very well. On the day of my operation he again explained everything clearly.
