I could understand what the Professor was saying and I think he could understand me. This has not always in the case at Chesterfield hospital. I felt comfortable in his presence which meant that I could explain my concerns easily and I felt he listened. Only after a short time I felt I could trust him. I was very surprised to learn that he did not consider me to have a prolapse. I only wish Professor Radley could have identified the specific reason for me having all these UTIs. I am very grateful to Professor Radley for seeing me.

Patient-initiated follow-up in gynaecology: Patient and clinician views

Fixed follow-up appointments can lead to reduced flexibility for patients with deteriorating/improving symptoms and conditions. Patient initiated follow-up in gynaecology can create a follow-up process which could better suit patients needs and make outpatient departments more efficient. This study shows that patients and clinicians are overwhelmingly positive about the benefits of patient initiated follow-up. Patient initiated follow-up requires robust symptoms to ensure safety and high-quality information for patients put on such pathways, which should also ensure equity of access for those with additional needs.
