Mr Rupert Clifton

Mr Rupert Clifton is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at  Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough.

His elective practice centres solely on knee surgery. Due to this specialisation, he is highly experienced in both joint replacement and "soft tissue" knee arthroscopy and cruciate ligament reconstruction. He has vast experience in his field and, each year, undertakes more than 200 knee replacements, 40 anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, and 150 knee arthroscopies. He performs almost double the number of procedures compared to the average knee surgeon.

He has expertise in the following areas:

• anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
• knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery)
• cartilage and meniscal surgery
• Primary Knee Replacement (arthroplasty)

Mr Clifton is dedicated to patient safety and is transparent about his outcomes, contributing to the National Joint Registry.

He gained his medical degree in 2000 from Leeds University Medical School and went on to earn the MRCS and FRCS diplomas from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also holds a master's degree in orthopaedic engineering.

He is a member of the British Medical Association and the British Society of Surgery of the Knee (BASK).
