Mr Priyan Landham

Mr Priyan Landham grew up in Kent and was educated at the King's School, Canterbury where he was a King's Scholar. He studied medicine at Imperial College, London and completed his basic surgical training at Guy's, St Thomas's and King's College Hospitals in London. He then joined the Bristol Orthopaedic Training Programme and completed his higher surgical training in hospitals in Bristol and the Severn Region.

Priyan has undertaken adult and paediatric complex spine fellowships in Bristol and in New Zealand, with Peter Robertson and colleagues at Auckland City Hospital and Starship Children's Hospital. His comprehensive training has covered surgery in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine in all age groups. He has learned the latest techniques in interbody fusion, navigation and minimally invasive surgery.

Priyan is an adult and paediatric spine surgeon at Southmead Hospital and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, which are tertiary referral centres for complex spine surgery including deformity and major trauma. He also works at the Spire Bristol Hospital, Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital, The Chesterfield and the Circle Hospital, Bath.

Priyan is able to manage and treat patients presenting with back pain and sciatica as well as neck and arm pain. His practice involves surgery for all degenerative spine conditions, spine tumours, fractures and deformity.

Priyan has a strong research interest and has a master's degree in orthopaedic engineering and a research doctorate in spinal biomechanics and the optimisation of vertebral augmentation. He has been a recipient of a Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship and has won several awards including best research paper at the Australian Spine Society, the American Society for Spine Radiology and the Society for Back Pain Research. He is also on the editorial board of Bone & Joint 360, which is the leading review journal in orthopaedic surgery.
