Mr Jonathan Webb is a highly experienced Consultant Knee Surgeon whose practice encompasses the full spectrum of knee conditions, with a particular emphasis on soft tissue injury. A former England rugby international, he brings a rare combination of elite sporting insight and advanced surgical expertise to his work, allowing him to understand both the physical and psychological pressures faced by athletes. He has treated national and international sports professionals across multiple disciplines, and his clinical practice places strong focus on arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and modern ligament reconstruction techniques. He is known for using the most up-to-date, minimally invasive day-case procedures designed to promote rapid recovery and rehabilitation.
Mr Webb is also one of the founder members of Fortius Clinic, the largest and most prestigious multidisciplinary sports medicine clinic in the UK.
A respected contributor to orthopaedic education and research, Mr Webb has written chapters for major surgical textbooks, including the Oxford Textbook of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery and Bailey and Love’s Short Practice of Surgery. His academic output includes more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and numerous conference abstracts presented at national and international meetings. He lectures widely, both in orthopaedic surgery and in sports and exercise medicine, and also speaks on sports psychology.
He is an active member of several professional societies, including the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Association of Surgery of the Knee, the UK Association of Doctors in Sport, and the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Mr Webb has fixed three generations of knees in my family. I have, and will recommend him every time anyone I know has a knee problem. He is helpful, professional and an exceptional surgeon. He explains everything really clearly - and is the first to say if he thinks that more time would be a better cause of action than more surgery. My daughter was his most recent patient and aged 16, Mr Webb always ensured that spoke to her as the patient rather than me - so she felt involved. He ensured that she understood everything that was going to happen. With his clinics in Bristol and London, if the waiting list for an MRI was shorter in London, we could go there - meaning she was diagnosed, fixed and back on the road to recovery really quickly. I cannot recommend Mr Webb highly enough.
Care is always quick and to the point in a very well-maintained clinic.
my wife had a replacement knee and patella from Jonathan over twelve years ago which was very successful indeed.Recently she developed severe osteoporosis and is suffering agonising pain in both hips, her lower spine and knees.Given our inability to see our GP face to face for months(our most recent visit needed a form filled back in September and we have only just seen her four months later)we were desperate to get a plan of action. We trust Jonathan implicitly,so we consulted with him. What happened exceeded our expectations. We had a consultation, mri scans, xray and blood tests all on the same afternoon at Fortius clinic. This was followed by a clear and unambiguous plan of action, referral notes, lists of further specialists recommended all within a week. A real plus is that you will be hard put to find a nicer kinder and more caring surgeon around. He is one of the nicest people to meet in the medical world and at 83 I have met a few!
Experience was A1. Reassuring. Giving confidence .Totally excellent.
Mr Webb was brilliant throughout my ACL reconstruction. He was very friendly, professional, and immediately put me at ease. At my 8-week follow-up he was very happy with my progress and recovery is going well so far. I would highly recommend Mr Webb for his expertise, reassurance, and excellent manner.
Mr Webb has a friendly reassuring manner which is very reassuring that you are in good hands
Jonathan Webb is an exceptional surgeon- I recommend him to everybody!! He is the nicest guy and makes you feel very well looked after at all times!! I’ve had two ACL operations with him that were a huge success and I feel very lucky and grateful that I have him as my ‘Knee man” and also a friend. 11 out of 10 Always 🙏
5 months ago, in July-2025, Jonathan Webb and his team performed a Total Knee Replacement (known as a TKR) on my left knee. I could not have wished for a better experience and outcome. If anyone reading this post is considering a TKR and is choosing a surgeon I honestly don't think you will find a better option. I'm 65 years old and have had a pretty active and sporty life - but nothing hugely out of the ordinary. A year ago my [old] knee was beginning to give up - I was walking with a limp, stairs were getting difficult and cycling / other activities were getting so difficult that I was doing less and less. My life was being heavily impacted by my knee and it felt like my world was getting smaller and harder. An MRI confirmed that my knee joint was at its end of life - the cartilage was gone and arthritis was active. The NHS, for all the good that it does, was going to be a long wait and I also learned that you, the patient, don't get to choose your surgeon. So I decided to go privately. I met with a few surgeons and made an easy decision to work with Jonathan. He was engaging, caring, deeply experienced and had even had a TKR himself (do read the blog on his website... it's a good representation). Recovering after the operation is quite testing. The knee replacement is a major bit of surgery - it takes quite a long time to recover and there's quite a bit of pain during the first month or two. But if you take the painkillers properly, use the ice packs, elevate your leg and do the physio exercises (which make a big difference to your recovery) then you should come through ...
Read moreI would highly recommend Mr Jonathan Webb, an excellent Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive experience in knee and sports-related conditions. Mr Webb combines deep clinical expertise with a thoughtful, evidence-based approach. He is particularly skilled in knee arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction and managing complex sports injuries, and is known for his clear communication and supportive manner with patients. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to patients seeking expert orthopaedic care for knee or sports-related conditions.
