Mr Owen Stewart

Mr Owen Stewart is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in advanced cataract surgery. As a subspecialist he can insert intraocular lenses and manage corneal and external eye diseases.

Mr Stewart was appointed as an NHS consultant in 2002. He worked for the NHS at the Hull & East Yorkshire Eye Hospital and also practices privately at the Spire Hull & East Riding Hospital, Newmedica Lincolnshire and Spire Hesslewood Clinic. As a result, his clinics are easily accessible for patients located across the Hull, Hessle, and Lincolnshire areas.

Treatments Mr Stewart can offer include advanced refractive phacoemulsification, multifocal lens implants, custom match visual bleeding, corneal reconstruction with modern lamellar corneal graft techniques such as DALK and DSEK, corneal collagen cross-linking, intrastromal ring treatments and glaucoma management.

He graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne with an undergraduate degree in Medicine in 1993 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1997. Previously he has taken a keen interest in training the future generation of Ophthalmologists by being Trainee Programme Director (TPD) for Ophthalmology in Yorkshire (North, East & West).
