I had my laser eye surgery with Dr S Goel at Spire Hospital, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. At just 21, I was naturally very nervous about going ahead with the procedure. However, Dr Goel and his optician were incredibly reassuring from the very beginning. My initial consultation lasted around two hours and involved a thorough range of scans and tests to ensure I was a suitable candidate. They even arranged a second opinion with a third-party optician to confirm that all results were consistent, which really put my mind at ease and gave me full confidence in moving forward. The surgery itself was quick and straightforward. Throughout the procedure, Dr Goel communicated with me constantly, which really helped calm my nerves as he could clearly sense how anxious I was feeling. The aftercare has been outstanding. I had a 24-hour follow-up to check everything was healing well, clear reminders about my medication, a 7-day check-up, and a 3-week review. I also received phone calls in between to help organise my appointments, which really showed how much they care about their patients’ recovery. This surgery has genuinely been life-changing for me, and I cannot recommend Dr Goel highly enough.

Mr Goel was recommended to me by my Optician (many thanks to Emilia Ford at Boots Opticians) as she felt that with my complex eye medical history my cataract needed to be treated by a consultant with a great reputation and skill in this field. He did not disappoint! From our initial consultation when he found that my uveitis was back together with raised eye pressure. He, together with his registrar Mr Aftab, managed my condition until I was ready for my cataract surgery. As I am also on immunosuppressant therapy, it showed how knowledgeable he was by preparing me medically for surgery as well as mentally. My cataract surgery went well, his theatre team were amazing and I honestly can say that I felt relaxed and safe in their hands. Post surgery I am driving again, walking the dogs and loving life in full and clear colour. Can't thank him enough, personally I think his professionalism and expertise are second to none.
