About Mr Mrinal Saharay
Mr Mrinal Saharay is a Consultant General Surgeon who specialises in Endocrine and Colorectal Surgery. He completed his training in the North East Thames region and was awarded a PhD in surgery by London University in 1998.
He performs various general surgical operations including hernia repair and laparoscopic (keyhole) gallbladder surgery. He has a particular clinical interest in the treatment of advanced haemorrhoids; and performs Circular Stapled Haemorrhoidectomy for prolapse and haemorrhoids (PPH). He also performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He specialises in thyroid surgery and minimally-invasive parathyroid surgery.
Mr Saharay is actively involved in clinical research and has published various papers in international journals. He is regularly invited to present his work at meetings and has membership with the British Medical Association, British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons and the Expert Witness Institute.

Mr Saharay was absolutely amazing start to finish of my care However when I called the ward as I was needing advice and care I found the nurse rude and unhelpful even at one point she raised her voice at me I however felt I should be seen by a nurse at the Rivers Hospital I finally got an appointment with an outpatient nurse who was again amazing helpful and kind Please please work on your aftercare from the ward staff Maybe they are unaware of the procedure after an operation at the Rivers Hospital
For what would normally be a stressful and worrying time, from start to finish, Mr Saharay made me feel very reassured. I found my whole experience really positive and on the day of the surgery I wasn’t nervous at all. Thank you!

Felt cared for and informed of every stage of care from the initial appointment to the 3 week post check up after successful removal of gallbladder. Brilliant throughout.
Positive visit. The doctor explained what had been performed and why (repair of an inguinal hernia following the reoccurrence of the original hernia, two layers of mess). I was examined in a standing position and asked to cough. The doctor would like to see me again in three months to review the repair; which I found reassuring.
All of the staff treated me very well. I am so pleased with the results of the surgery. Truly life changing. Can’t be thankful enough of Mr Saharay.
